Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, the largest and oldest hospice in the state, offers medical, emotional and spiritual care for individuals living with a life-threatening illness and provides a wide spectrum of support services for patients and families.

“Becoming a caregiver is like starting a new job without any job training,” asserted Wulfkuhle. “CareGiver Support Groups are one of the many ways that Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island supports families of patients who are seriously ill,” continued Wulfkuhle.

The CareGiver Support Groups are designed to assist family caregivers by providing a caring and comfortable atmosphere to openly discuss their own difficulties, a place to learn coping mechanisms and to get help in dealing with family members.

“Our fast-paced and fragmented society often leaves individuals with inadequate support systems,” says Ginny Maitland, HHCRI’s Spiritual and Bereavement Care Manager. There are many benefits to participating in a CareGiver Support Group. They offer a safe environment to gain mutual support and solve common problems, reduce stress and most importantly, they help validate your own feelings, so you don’t think you are crazy.”
