Employee Recognition Program is designed to recognize employees
for the vital role they play in the success of our organization.
The qualities that the Employee Recognition Committee looks for
in nominees include but are not limited to the following: courtesy,
dependability, willing to assist others, cooperation, customer oriented,
works well with others, takes initiative.
December
2006 - Pam Hartnett, NA
Congratulations Pam Hartnett,
Nursing Assistant extraordinaire, on being named
Employee of the Month for the month of December. Kim Baker, NA Department
Manager glows when she speaks of Pam. “Pam is always in constant
communication with other team members about patient needs and concerns.
She just received her 10-year pin; just think of the thousands of
patients who have felt the warmth of her smile.”
November
2006 - Terry Rochon, RNP
Congratulations
Terry Rochon on being named November’s Employee of the Month. Terry
is a Registered
Nurse Practitioner who works with the Long Term Care Team. Her nominator
said this about her: “Both in-house and in public, Terry displays
a high degree of professionalism. As a result, Terry has gained
the confidence of her patients, their families and her co-workers.
She assists staff in formulating or revising a patient’s plan of
care to better serve the patient. Is always attentive and respectful
to family members and patients. She brings a calming presence to
both her patients and coworkers. Terry demonstrates sound judgment
in all her decisions. She is an inclusive and intentional collaborator.
In doing so, she has helped the team reach a higher level of functioning.
She values her coworkers, her patients and their families.”
October
2006 – Annmarie Johnson, Administrative Assistant, Wakefield Office
"Annmarie is always
very courteous, respectful and willing to help others. She consistently
goes above and beyond for co-workers. She helps train people and
continues to guide them when needed. "
"Annmarie
is very efficient in getting all her necessary tasks completed.
She tracks all documents to make sure they are sent and received
back at HHCRI. Annmarie is always willing to contribute ideas and
makes helpful recommendations. She is constantly training administrative
assistants but always maintains a professional and positive demeanor.
She works hard at keeping the South Team office up to date and goes
out of her way to brighten each team member’s day. "
September
2006 —Ray Barbosa, Maintenance (no photo available)
"Ray
will try to the best of his ability to make, fix or change most
anything you ask him to do. He exemplifies teamwork. Specifically,
during the change in Medical Records we were asking him to shuffle
and move things about, sometimes several times moving things in
and out, but Ray NEVER complained. Not once. He made the changes
quickly with little interruption to the nursing or medical records
departments. "
"He
makes sure everything he is doing is safe, organized and done in
a timely manner. Ray completed the Medical Records move nearly single-handedly
and put up corkboard, plants, shelves and file cabinets without
a peep or complaint. Ray is always very considerate of all those
he works with."
August
2006 - Pauline Walsh, RN, Admission Team
Her nominator wrote: “Over the years, I have heard from many families
about Pauline’s kindness and understanding. Just recently a family
told me how at ease Pauline made them feel at a very overwhelming
time. A family member remarked: ‘After meeting Pauline, we knew
Hospice was going to be great.’ They were impressed with her knowledge
and willingness to answer their questions. Pauline always goes the
“extra mile.” She represents the agency very well.”
“Pauline
also works well other disciplines. She always contacts Social Work
if there is an immediate need. She truly cares about the families
she meets. Pauline is truly a hard worker with exemplary skills.”

2006 - Patricia Jansen, RN, Long Term Care Team
Congratulations
Pat on being named Employee of the Month for July Here’s what her
nominator said about Pat. “Pat is the best example of someone who
shows respect to her coworkers. She always responds quickly to questions
about patients, is very knowledgeable about our patients’ needs
and conditions and makes timely recommendations when necessary.
Pat works exceptionally well with the Nursing Assistants here at
HHCRI. She has been actively involved in the implementation of the
CNA pilot program and serves as a great resource for all the Nursing
Assistants. Pat is extremely courteous to patients and family members.
She really goes above and beyond. I give her an A+ for all she does.”
June,
2006 - Ruth Fay Bush, RN, Central Team
Congratulations
Fay on being named Employee of the Month for June. The individual
who nominated Fay wrote: "Fay is very customer oriented,
she pays attention to detail in managing her patient caseloads and
keeps physicians updated on her patients' status. Fay is the
"go to" nurse when nurses on either the Central or North
teams need input. She is aloways willing to make consultation
visits, always willing to contribute ideas for challenging cases,
always willing to help out the team with visits and most importantly,
she is a regular baker for IDT (Interdisciplinary) meetings!"

May, 2006 - Sandi
Romano, Social Worker for South Team
Her colleagues describe
Sandi as a vital member of the South Team.
She always treats coworkers,
patients and family members with the utmost courtesy and respect.
Her work reflects the highest standards of professionalism and an
unmatched dedication to providing the best care possible for her
patients and family members. Recently she went above and beyond
to intervene on behalf of a patient who needed pain management.
Her professionalism, commitment to providing quality care, expertise
and last but not least, her sense of humor in the toughest situation
make Ms. Sandi Romano a perfect candidate for this month’s Employee
of the Month.
April,
2006 - Bonnie Jervis, Admissions Nurse, South Team
Several individuals nominated
Bonnie. Each had a variety of positive things to say about her.
One common theme throughout all of them can be summed up in this
statement, “Bonnie excels in all areas of customer service and teamwork.”
Other comments were: “She is very organized, always available to
assist with directions, insurance, questions, family issues and
clinical questions. Bonnie Jervis is a
source of knowledge that
we all value and trust on a daily basis. Her sense of humor and
commitment to the team is appreciated. She is always friendly
and accommodating
to patients, referral sources and the admission nurses. She really
goes the extra mile to help out. We appreciate all she does.
March,
2006 - Kim Baker, Manager of the Nursing Assistant Department,
was named March's Employee of the Month at the Pawtucket all-staff
meeting. Bonnie England, Kim's supervisor and Director of Hospice,
presented Kim with her certificate, flowers and check.
Kim is exceptional at
meeting the needs of the nursing assistants and always acknowledges
the NAs hard work. She is a great leader. Although she has a very
busy position she always takes the time to listen. Kim really goes
the extra mile in arranging meetings at times that are convenient
for the NAs. Despite the increased workload, Kim still handles issues
with grace and calm.

February, 2006
- Nora Mackie
Teresa Helgerson, Accounts
Payable Manager and Nora's supervisor, presented Nora her certificate,
a bouquet of flowers and a $50 check at the all-staff meeting this
past week.
Nora's nominator states:
On numerous occasions the organization has had to call on Nora for
emergency phone coverage for the front desk. She never says no and
is always a good sport about it. Nora works well with others and
is always friendly and courteous. Besides her responsibilities as
an Administrative Assistant in the Finance Department, Nora is always
willing to undertake additional duties and tasks.
January 2006 - Steve Lamanda, NA
Steve's work, patience and understanding of ALS patients,
as well as his ability to gain their trust is exceptional, stated
the person who nominated Steve. He also provides excellent physical
care and emotional support to his patient. Additionally, Steve's
ability to deal with very difficult patients and still provide excellent
care is a tribute to his dedication to his profession.
