Wakefield's Golden Becomes Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island Hospice Aide Manager

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Karen Anne Golden, RN, BSN, MSN, of Wakefield is the new HospiceGolden Aide Department manager at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, the state’s leader in hospice and palliative care since 1976. As such, she will develop, administer and oversee all aspects of the Hospice Aide Program, ensuring the provision of high quality services to patients, families and caregivers, and promoting educational excellence among department staff.

Diana Franchitto, Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island president/CEO, said the Hospice Aide Department is vital to the accomplishment of the hospice mission. “With Karen overseeing the Hospice Aide Department, we’re sure that our patients and their loved ones will receive the best care available,” she said.

While at the Anderson Adult Emergency Center, a level I trauma center in Providence, before joining Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, Golden was assistant clinical manager, responsible for the performance of 31 staff nurses. Prior to that position, she was coordinator for and completed the development of a community-based, statewide SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) program for Day One in Providence, a sexual assault and trauma resource center.

A registered nurse, with more than 20 years as an emergency, intensive care, critical care and home care nurse at Westerly Hospital, Westerly, NorthWest Home Care, Harmony, and Miriam Hospital and Roger Williams General Hospital, Karen will bring significant experience to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island.

Golden is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Emergency Nurses Association, International Association of Forensic Nurses, Rhode Island State Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Having received all of her undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, Golden holds a bachelor’s in nursing, master’s in nursing and post baccalaureate certificate in human resources and is completing the university’s family nurse practitioner program.
